Go to start, run, type msconfig, hit enter then click on startup, you can then see what is bieng loaded at startup. By taking the ticks out of the programmes you will stop them loading.

What OS?. If W98.go to start/run type msconfig then click ok, click the startup progs tab and disable everything you dont need to start at bootup and reboot. You can always run them from start/programs if needs be.
