Hi a friend has a pc that wont boot up at all when he turns it on it just beeps once and thats as far as it goes. I told him to try reseating the ram gx card etc. and check paperwork for beep codes but it just gives one beep every time. Any other things we could try?
Thanks in advance

Has the attributes of a faulty PSU....

that was another suggestion of mine is there any way of testing the PSU?

One beep sounds like the post beep...thats ok.

Possible motherboard or psu failure.

Firstly check and clean all fans,possible overheating.

You could try;

Running with one stick of ram / graphics / cpu and hdd.

Remove other drives,ie cd/dvd drives,floppy drive...just disconnect them.
Remove any other other hardware that maybe connected and reboot.

One beep is what it should do. Try disconnecting all Drive cables to see if you get BIOS screan when you press Delete key
