PC Boots eventually - when I disconnnect Keyboard

  arctic watch 22:03 03 Aug 2009

When I press the power on button (Dell dimension) the PC refuses to boot and the light on the button flashes yellow (instead of green). If I disconnect the keyboard (USB) and keep holding the button down several times it will eventually boot up (I plug the keyboard back in as soon as it boots and everything is fine).

Its obviously unhappy about something but it doesnt work immediately I disconnect the keyboard and everything work fine once it starts to power up. It also boots normally if I've only recently switched it off.

Any ideas what might be wrong before I start taking it to pieces.

USB peripherals sometimes have the tendency to do this, & it's good that you've been able to narrow it down more or less to the keyboard.

What happens if you try connecting the keyboard in a another USB port? Or, if you try another working keyboard? G

Check all USB is enabled in BIOS as Windows as nothing to do with your Problem at this point.
