an old couple i know have asked me to set them up with a dial up pay as u go internet provider. they have ntl telephone, no bt line. are they stuck with ntl internet or do any other isp's allow access from an ntl line. a quick look on ntl website only gives broadband options. they dont want that. they only got a pc today and dont even know how to switch it on yet!

Almost all PAYG ISPs (tiscali, freeserve, onetel etc.) are available whether you are on on BT or NTL. To check it out make a new connection and enter the number 08451 121212. Enter any ID you like and any Password you like.

Once you have connected set up a web based email address (like hotmail or yahoo). and you are now online.

thanks for the reply but what is the cost? is it just a local call cost as most dial-up payg services?

gizzyx, as it is an 0845 number it will be charged as a local rate call. That is all U will pay.Regards, Meshuga.
