Can i password protect a desktop folder in win xp home.

Do you mean a folder on the desktop? If so, then Winzip will do it for you. Also other utilities available.

You can try this: Right-click on the desktop and choose New\Compressed Folder.

Open the existing folder, select all the files in it, copy them and paste into the new compressed folder.

Select the first file in the compressed folder and from the file menu choose add a password. Choose what you want.

Although others will be able to read the file names in the compressed folder if they open it, they will not be able to copy or open them without the password.

you can also right click any folder/properties/sharing

tick make this folder private.

any folder within that is also password protected.
