Does anyone know if there is some free software so I can partition my hard drive? I have Partition Magic but it doesn't seem to work. Please don't suggest Ranish - too complicated!! Or is there a programme within XP Pro?

[email protected]®, do you want to partition a new or reformatted hard drive, or do you want to change the partitioning without losing data on your drive? You may find that the maker of your drive has a utility to do what you want.

XP does have its own facility to handle an already partitioned hard disk.

Partition Magic version 8 is better than 7 when working with XP, anything less than 7 will not work.

If you were starting with a new hdd then FDisk does an acceptable job

With this months copy of Windows XP magazine(June)
there is Partition Expert 2003, not totaly free but at least you get a mag to read.
