Parental monitoring of wireless web usage / times

  how!!!!!!!!!!! 17:54 31 Jul 2006

Hi, I have recently set up a wireless broadband connection for my son's laptop and our home pc. All ok, no problems, however I would like to be able to monitor or log the times of the day and possibly the sites he visits when using his laptop un-supervised. Is this possible? Thanks

If you don't want to use 3rd-party software, then it will depend on what router you use....

As ade.h says most routers log events such as who logs in and when. As for checking out the sites he visits - are you sure you want to know?

a router can only do so much. Depending on the router you have, surely you have loked in the user guide to see what it is capable of. If it has a builtin firewall then you can block sites or bad words when searching. However you may find that for about 20 UKP you can install a little application such as cybersitter, etc. look here:

You will find a comparison chart.

Hope this helps!

by the way, all of those except one allows you to download the application as a trial, so you can see if it is the right one for you.
