Could someone please elucidate as they're new to this newbie.

P2P are file sharing sites that are generally used for allowing illegal downloads of copyright music (although they can be used for legal purposes).

Warez sites permit the downloading of of illegal copies of almost anything.

Both are a festering nest of viruses which you will get whether or not you want them.

P2P is not really a site. You will download the P2P software (for example KazAa) from a website.

Then lets say you wanted something you will infact connect to another person(s) computer.

P2P - Peer to Peer (you and I)
