p2esocks_1014.dll missing after trojan removed

  sedgi 21:21 01 Jul 2004

after start up I get the message Error loading p2esocks.dll The specified module could not be found. This happened after removing Trj/p2e.A using Panda antivirus.
Can anyone help please.

Does everything work OK apart from that? If so, Start, Run, type in

and click OK.

On the startup tab look for an entry corresponding to p2esocks and untick it. Click OK and restart.

If you are running Windows 2000 you won't have msconfig - in which case post back.

everything else seems ok, can do that but is p2esocks of any importance to anything?

  VoG II 21:45 01 Jul 2004

No it isn't important. This was probably the name of the virus/trojan. That file has been removed but there is still a reference to it in startup (probably a registry entry).

If things go pear shaped (exteremely unlikely) you can go back by running msconfig and ticking it again.

Will do, Thanks VoG.

One other thing you could do is get a better AV program. Removal of the trojan should have removed either registry or startup entries too. Try Kapersky
