Overheating USB Powered Hub

I have purchased a DigiTV Box which plugs into a USB 2.0 Powered Hub. I am getting a perfect digital picture for about 8-14 minutes, then the picture starts to break up. When I touch the powered hub, it feels very warm, almost hot. I am informed that the DigiTV Box draws up to 500mA of power. Any ideas please?

Why not plug it strait in computer

When I connect directly into the PC, the picture quality is very poor - all broken up. It is only when it is channeld through the powered hub that I get a brilliant picture for the duration specified.

Nothing wrong with that. 500ma is the maximum that unpowered USB ports normally handle depending on the type of hardware being used.
