Outlook won't send/receive

Outlook 2000 (not Express) won't send/receive e-mails. Newly written e-mails stay in Out Box & the "Completed Tasks" window is empty despite all the accounts settings being correct.
My son set up pass word entry into XP home at about the same time, could this be connected?

I have to use O/L Express instead and this works fine.

Can you tell me if u get an error message at the bottom right of the screen when u run outlook?

If u go to email accounts and check it the POP3 & SMTP configuration are the same, as antivirus software have a habit to changing incoming pop3 config to LOCALHOST. Please note that the pop setting get attached to username
For eg: username/pop.xyz.com.

Check in the account settings - "Include this account when sending/receiving" - should be ticked.

why are you using outlook?
For normal home use there is absolutely no need to put yourself through the hassle of such a large program running. That's why Microsoft were so kind in giving us Express. It does what it says on the tin, without taking up all your resources in the meantime
