Outlook shutdown problems

I am using Outlook 2002 with XP Professional. My problem is that when I have finished using outlook, and close it down, it doesn't fully close and stays listed as a process in my task manager. This then causes problems when I try and put the pc in standby mode or turn it off. It either takes an awful long time, or comes up with a message telling me to wait whilst it closes down outlook.

It doesn't appear as an application running in task manager, just a 'process'.

I can speed things up by ending the process on task manager, but it surely shouldn't be necessary.

Any ideas?

Try stopping it as a startup prog as well.

I managed to solve this by unchecking the box in Outlook 2002 that says: "Enable Windows Messenger in Outlook".

Don't really understand why, but it seems to have worked!
