Outlook reminders

In my Outlook calendar, I deleted a calendar event whilst the reminder for that event was open.

Now, every so often a reminder for that same event pops up, even though the event has been deleted.

If I dismiss the reminder a dialogue box says, “Cannot find the event, you may be reminded again”.

How do I stop this reminder popping up for an event that I’ve already deleted?

Put the event back and delete reminder first?
dont know if it will work though.

It isn't by any chance lurking in Tasks?

I tried that without success! I also tried System Restore without success.

I'm thinking of using my week-old back-up and restoring only my Outlook items. Will that work do you think?

Could try running Outlook with the /cleanreminders switch

How do I do that, please?

Click on Start, Run and type in Outlook /cleanreminders. It is supposed to clean out reminders.

Great. That seems to have solved it!

I assume that it has only cleaned out reminders for past and/or deleted events and that any reminders for future events are still intact?

They should be but it might be worth checking.
