Outlook Profile problem

  belayer 14:27 24 Jul 2013

Have been re-installing Microsoft Office on my PC.

Now, when I open Outlook I get the following warning every time:

The mail profile 'Outlook' was created by a newer version of Outlook and might contain information that is not compatible with your current Outlook version. If you experience problems with this profile, you can create a new profile. In windows Control Panel, open Mail, then click show profiles, then click Add.

What is a profile? What am I supposed to add? I just want to get rid of this warning window.

Have you run all of the updates for Office?

Yes, I think so, anyway, I got so fed up with it, and the fact that Outlook is so complicated and difficult to use (only ever used Outlook Express before) I dumped it and am using Windows Mail now. Much better!

But thanks anyway.

The profile is where your email settings, etc are stored. If you uninstalled and reinstalled Office then I suspect that Outlook found the profile from before and then stated it was from a newer version eg a version with all of the updates including SP's. Outlook is more sophisticated than Windows Mail and integrates calendar, etc.
