Outlook Express space free up

Where are the messages on Outlook Express compressed and stored?

Now I have just upgraded to Acronis 2010 why can't I use that for backup on my external disc and free up the OE storage.

Outlook Express stores the folders on the system drive. You can see the complete path by going to Tools > Options > Maintenance and clicking on the "Store folder" button. Follow that path and open the folder.

You will have to enable 'show hidden files and folders' in Tools > Folder Options > View tab
or you won't be able to see the store folder of .dbx files

(you can't open emails to read them from the .dbx files - they need OE program to open them)
