Outlook Express problem

When I attach a picture etc. to an email, OE tries to send it and "time out" occurs and it is not sent. I can send it through Picasa but not Outlook Express. Using IE 6 and Avast. Any answers appreciated.

This may be an oversize problem with OE? Check the size of mail that OE can send.

To check for oversize mail do the following:

"On the Tools menu, click Accounts.
On either the Mail or News tab, click Properties.
On the Advanced tab, select the Break apart messages larger than x KB check box and then enter the maximum file size the server will allow."

When you send a picture file, do you right click on the file and select (from Send To) Mail Recipient?

This will allow you to send a much smaller file size by e-mail. Alternatively, from the same right click on the picture file, you can select Resize Picture at four levels. Again you can then select (Send To) Mail Recipient after right clicking on the new file.

It can be deleted if no longer required with the original file still intact.

You could also use Picassa2, PixResizer or similar utility to resize picture files.
