Outlook Express - old data

  sschsu 15:13 17 Jul 2005

I have some old outloop express data (addresses and emails) like to extract from an old harddisk (now being used as an external harddisk).

Does anoyone know how to extract these data?

If I changed the message store location in Outlook Express, then use the export option to extract the data, will it work?

Try doing a search for all *.dbx files from your old disc. Select and copy or move these to a folder on your current drive then use the import option from OE6's File menu.

You can Import messages and address books directly from where they are stored on the external drive. You don't need to move them anywhere first.

Start the import wizard from the File drop-down menu (as gripperfox says) - then in the wizard, at the point it asks, browse to where the files are stored.

Don't browse to the Inbox etc folder, but to the folder that holds the various boxes.

For the Address Book do a similar thing, but browse to where the Address Book is.

If you need to find the locations first - the Addy <Book is a .wab file - and the Inbox etc are .dbx files (as above)
