Outlook Express and Generic Host problem

I am having difficulty downloading emails in Outlook Express.

I am using Bullguard Anti-virus & Firewall.
I have the Generic Host Process For Win 32 BLOCKED.

If I set this to ALLOW I have no problem downloading emails.

The problem is I then get a dialogue box appear with the following message.

"Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience"

The computer then shuts down and I have to reboot.

Then after between 5 or 10 minutes online this dreadful thing keeps happening.

The only way I can get rid of it is by doing a SYSTEM RESTORE.

I've even re-installed Windows without success.

Could someone please help - it's driving me mental.

I'm using Windows XP Media Centre Edition.

All help very much appreciated.

what sort of anti virus do you have? try a full scan.
