Outlook Express does not connect when opened

I have Outlook Express and IE6 running under XP with BT Internet Pay as you go.
When opening IE6, the dial up connection dialogue appears as normal, and connects successfully.

When opening outlook Express however, nothing happens. When Send/Recieve is clicked, it still does not initiate a connection dialogue box.

I cannot find any setting which might be suppressing the connection in Outlook Express. Can anybody help?

Try opening Outlook Express.

Click on Tools > Options > click on the Connection Tab > Click on the Change button > Make sure the 'Dial whenever a

Make sure the 'dial whenever a network connection is not present' is selected.

Not sure this will work, though...
