Using Windows XP and outlook express 6

When I close Outlook Express 6.0 I get the following

The instruction at "0x77f58d2c" referenced memory
at "0x009a44a8". The memory could not be "written".

Click on OK to terminate the program.

Any ideas?

Incompatible or conflicting software that is running at the same time as Internet Explorer may cause some faults. To determine if this is causing the issue, perform a "clean boot" of Windows. A clean boot helps you to isolate the issue by temporarily eliminating items in your computer configuration that do not help to start Windows and Internet Explorer.

To perform a clean boot, view the following

I believe I have found the culprit.

AOL messenger currently opens with Outlook Express. I have discovered that Outlook closes satisfactorily if AOL Mess is open at time of shutdown but if I close AOL Mess beforehand the error message occurs.

Clearly there is an interconnection between the programs which is easy to avoid.ie dont open messenger if you do not need it.
