when i try and download emails via pop, i get the message that my password was rejected. I am using the same password that i use to log on online but it isnt working. all ports and security settings are correct and verified but still not working.

have you tried deleting and reinstalling?

i have other email accounts that work.

Delete the account for the email that rejects password in OE, close OE and then reopen and create a new account with the details and password. Close OE and reopen it and then see if they collect ok.

It is not so unusual for OE accounts to sometimes corrupt even though the details seem correct.
