I am fixing a PC for a friend and he is using outlook express on windows XP. He has two e-mail accounts one with BT open world which came with his internet account and one with Talk21. When receiving mail on the BT open world account 2 out of 3 times it will work fine but on the third time, a box appears asking for the password - click OK and it receives the mail. Why does this box only appear some of the time?

Also he can't send e-mails on either account at all the same box appears every time asking for password.

All the details are entered in correctly.

Please else this PC will be going through the window.

Yes, the username and password for each account are correct I check about hundred times. Ones thing is that his BT open world account password is in uppercase would this be causing a problem?
