does the windows xp home edition cd have a system restore with it?

Yes, that OS has System Restore

Not quite sure what you mean......Windows XP Home has System Restore built in.

The full XP Home cd will give access to the Recovery Console and the "repair Windows" option in Setup.

In the Value Added folder on the cd is the Windows Backup program which will let you create full system backup discs for use with the Automated Recovery option on the set up disc.

Have I covered what you need to know?????

gudgulf's reference re the XP backup feature (which has to be manually added in Home) prompts me to point out that the feature is added from the installation disk.

Open the CD-ROM OS disk (easiest to right click it in My Computer>Browse) and look in \valueadd\msft\ntbackup

The file you have to install is NTBACKUP.MSI - double click on it to start the installation of the utility.

The Backup wizard can be found in System Tools>Backup

My understanding is that under XP Home, you can't use an Automatic System Recovery Backup. Although the Backup Utility allows you to create an ASR backup, there is no option to restore it!!!

Other Backup capabilities are avialble.
