OpenOffice and microsoft works compatibilty?

Evening all

Just curious, I know OpenOffice software is compatiblew with Microsoft Office documents but can OpenOffice open and work with Microsoft Works applications like Works Word processor and Works Spreadsheet.

Does anyone know this as I am unable to find anything relating to compatibitly on their site ref the works just office pacakages.

No - it's a tweaked version of OO with (claimed) better compatibilities.

Makes me worry a little with 3rd party software, take it you just found it in a search or have you some connection with this source.

I have no connection with it. I'm currently using it. I haven't tried (as I have no need to) MSW compatibility. I can confirm that it does give compatibility woth MSPOffice2007 docx format.

Open Office is VERY well respected - it's basically done by Sun these days.

Open Source software in general can be extremely good - often better than proprietary - pace Firefox and Thunderbird - let alone Linux.
