I've created a spreedsheet using openoffice, I have saved it to my desktop, how do I insert it into a text, I've opened the spreadsheet, but there is no link to copy.TIA
...just cut'n'paste the whole thing after opening your text file?

Try, Insert > Object > OLE Object > Spreadsheet then copy your original spreadsheet's contents and paste them in that way.
