Hi all, I have from time to time received various attachments from my cuz in Oz which I haven't been able to open, the current ones have a "windows logo" and also have a number followed by .dat. After i have scanned them with AVG and found them clear I attempt to open them, I get the following:

Open With

Click the programme you want to use to open the file.
If the programme you want is not listed below, click Other description of '.dat.' file

The list of programnmes is then shown.

I have never been able to open any of these files
and because they have never been really important
have never, until now, asked how to do so. I would
really appreciate some advice. Can anyone help?

Cheers the noo Jockym

the person to ask is your cuz in oz. Q what did he create them with? but usually you can open a dotdat with notepad but it may not be humanly intelligable.

Thanks for that, my cuz says she just forwarded on what she received, (and she can see them ok)
However they were unintelligible in Notepad as suggested so when I get time I shall read into the link supplied by Jester 2K II and hopefully sort it. Ta jockym
