One Drive Documents folder query

I have a newish PC and am using OneDrive. My HDD which syncs with OneDrive has two sets of folders. One is 'D:\All users\OneDrive\Documents' and the other is plain D:\All users\Documents. It is a little random as to how new docs (or pictures) are allocated. I want just to use OneDrive. Could I copy all the folders/files in the other Documents directory into the OneDrive directory and then delete the first directory? I am nervous about doing this in case I cause more problems. As usual all suggestions gratefully received.
