john1000 you can download the file oleaut32.dll from click here
downloaded the file tryed to copy and paste to system 32 folder, unable to replace file currently in use please close all programmes.tryed in safe mode still no good something is apparently still using this file any ideas
Are you running Microsoft Excel?
not sure how will i know?i think i have just got microsoft word installed
If you can't discover what's using the file you will probably have to boot up in dos to replace the file [Can you boot up into dos with XP?]
If you rename your new file to *new, then put it in the same directory as the current file you can rename the current file to *old then rename the *new file to *dll. You can find basic dos commands here click here
Yes krypt1c, easy to do in Dos, (if you have Win-ME or earlier).
The problem is that john1000 has XP, so someone well versed in XP will need to advise him how to best to access Dos, and what commands are valid for XP.
An interesting read is here:
Start > Run > Type:
Regsvr32 oleaut32.dll
Click ok.
