I have an old 10gb(!!)hard drive HP Pavilion sitting in a cupboard. It still works & I was thinking of putting it to some use again.

Any good ideas?

Perhaps amazingly I bought this PC in 1998 at a cost of £900+ I seem to remember! A 10gig hd, Win98, 256 memory & only a CD rewriter drive!

I just recently got another HP Media Centre IP4 Dual Core 2064 memory with lightscribe DVD/CD rewriter/ DVD/CD Rom, 2x 200gb HDs & on & on & on for less money!!!

Hi, personally I would give it to a Charity.

Use the old PC as a firewall, server, back up device with addition of an 80gb hdd for about £30?

Plenty you can do with it. Alternatively sell it for a few quid.

Install linux on it and learn to use linux. Mod the case with something unusual.

Thanks chaps & what a caring sharing helpful Microsoft link too.

If I get some spare time I might try tinkering with some upgrades perhaps.

If you decide to upgrade make sure to not spend too much as a PC like this isnt worth spending too much on.

And if you do sack it, make sure the HDD is wiped or scrapped if you have anything sensitive on it.

True. Perhaps just clear it out & give it away. I have CyberScub & I think it erases HDs to military levels & beyond.
