Old HD to new computer

After I buy my new computer I should like to add the HD from my old (1987) computer at least temporarily until I am sure that all my old programs run under XP.

The old one is connected via 40 pin IDE connector.
Is this likely to be a simple plug in exercise or have connections changed in the last 6 years?

I assume you mean 1997?

You should have no problems adding your old hard disk to your new computer. Just remember to change the jumper on your old disk to make it SLAVE. and connect it to the spare plug on your new HD cable.

You can also consider leaving the jumper as master, but using the old data cable and HD from the older computer, plug it into the secondary IDE motherboard socket.

Thnks for those messages. I assume no reformatting is required.

And of course I did mean 1997 for the date of the old machine.
