Hi Guys,

My mother in law has recently accquired a new laptop running windows 7. She did have an old desktop running win98se.
She has done a lot of research on her old desktop and recieved e mails on there that she wants to transfer to her new laptop. Is there an easy way of doing this?
Any help appreciatted.

Which email client did she use, for instance Outllok or Outlook express?

Outlook Express 5 is what is on the old desk top where the old e mails are.

Assuming she will be running Windows Mail in Windows 7.

It won't allow me to copy them like that. For some reason, the window just keeps closing when I go to paste.

rawprawn, I have followed the steps to your link but, because these are on the old pc. Do I have to use a caddy to link the old hard drive to import it into the new laptop?

Use a pen drive if you have one, or burn the data to a cd and transfer it.CD

The old pc won't recognise a pen drive. It won't allow me to send it to cd either, it says:

"error copying file"
cannot create or replace
access is denied
make sure the disc is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use.

In that case you may well need a caddy.

just up an email account on the new pc, and resend them to yourself?
