Office 2007 and Word

I am currently running Office XP Standard for Students and Teachers 2002. I am attracted by the idea of trying the Office 2007 Beta but confused/concerned by review in August 2006 magazine and posts on other threads.

Firstly will installation of Office 2007 overwrite my 2002 version or will this still be available to me?

Secondly, I produce a lot of Word documents for local authorities (Policy and procedure documents) and am concerned that they will not be able to open these without having Office 2007 or the compatibility pack referred to in the magazine, neither of which is likely. Any thoughts gratefully received.

Unable to comment on the overwrite aspects.

Office 2007 is a Beta version ie it is out there for testing and almost certainly has bugs. You produce a lot of documents for others and personally in your situation I would not run the risk of losing or corrupting valuable documents. I would go to Office 2007 when it is available in its final form and when the lcoal authorities also move to that version.

When installing Office 2007 you get the option to overwrite your previous version or install it seperately from your current version. I wanted to keep my 2003 version so installed the 2007 version seperately.

Secondly I think it should be able to run the documents but don't take the risk and as everyone says its a beta version so you're at your own risk and believe me it was a hassle trying to uninstall it, never again

My Local Authority is still on the office 2000 version so it will be a very long time before they move to 2007 in January and even still the 2003 version :)) haha

Thanks guys. I think my gut feeling probably was that I should wait, so will do so.
