Office 2003 compatability with Vista

  Sweet William 19:22 04 Oct 2008

I purchased MS Office 2003 Professional on eBay and ran it successfully on MS XP. I can not, however, run it on MS Vista Home Premium. When trying to install the programme I receive the message "Data Error (Cyclic Redundancy Check)". The programme is shown as being compatible with Vista. Is there a solution to the problem or do I need to invest in another Office programme?

You can run the programme. You need to open the files and manually select the setup.exe. It will not run automatically.

I'm running M$ Office 2003 on Vista Home Premium, have been for ages, no problems what so ever.

Do any of you know if the older versions of office run under vista? If not, I shall stick to XP...

The CD is damaged or your drive can't read it. It's not the software. Clean the disc, copy files from it to a folder on your HD; click here

Office 2000 definitely works with Vista, don't know about 97.

Many thanks for the suggestions, unfortunately nothing worked. Even using the CD Recovery Toolbox my PC was sluggish and unstable (I blame the defective Office Suite for these problems).
I have now used the second license for my daughter's MS Office Home and Student 2007, although "Access" is missing. Still, you can't have everything!

Office 97 definately works with Vista.

I use Office 2003 on Vista without problems ( just as I used it on XP previously)
