OE email keeps returning

  Barnacarry 14:05 15 Mar 2010

When I try to send a plain text email to one of my contacts it is always returned with the following message -
'5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550-'5.7.1 Message content rejected 98e4dc125becf048d4b04a6d6300199a>'
When I send other types of email eg. pictures, word docs, etc. they get through with no problem. How have they blocked plain text messages?

It might be you - not them

Have a look and see what your Plain Text Settings are in Mail Sending Format

OE > Tools > Options > Send tab > Mail Sending Format > Plain Text Settings

Post back on here with settings you are using.

Hi lotvic, they are as follows -

Uunencode - (unticked)
Text wrap - 76
Indent original text - (ticked)

I have:
Mime - (ticked)
Encode text using - Quoted Printable
Allow 8-bit characters etc - (unticked)
Uunencode - (unticked)

Quoted Printable

try with that setting.

I have just changed the settings but I am still getting the same reply.

Just out of interest, when the email is returned I get a .DAT file attachment with it and when I open it in Notepad it says -

Reporting-MTA: dns; relay.ptn-ipout02.plus.net

Final-Recipient: rfc822;(email addressee)
Action: failed
Status: 5.0.0 (permanent failure)
Remote-MTA: dns; [numbers]
Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550-'5.7.1 Message content rejected <98e4dc125becf048d4b04a6d6300199a>' (delivery attempts: 0)

5.1.0 Often seen with contacts. Check the recipient address.

List of the codes click here to help check the failure message you get.

The address is correct so it seems as if the problem is at the recipients end.

(550 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable (Mailbox can't be found or you don't have access rights) and 5.7.1 Permissions problem. For some reason the sender is not allowed to email this account.)

Thanks for your help lotvic, much appreciated.

thanks for the feedback, it may help others.

It would be interesting to know what the recipient says.
