this is a strange one, my wife and i share a laptop, i can access my emails, but my wife cannot on her account. when outlook express tries to open it halts and displays this error;
OE has encounered an error and needs to close-
error signature;
appname: msimn.exe app ver: 6.0.2900.2180
mod ver: 6.0.2900.2982 modname: comctl32.dll
offset:00073c22

i have searched the helproom, tried some of the suggestions- namely running registry scrub and reg fix programs. the problem still persists.
i have looked a the ms knowledge database, without much luck. has anyone out there come across this problem before.
laptop spec; AMD 2600,512MB, 50GB, xp home, sp2
IE7, OE6.

delete and recreate your wifes account and see what happens then.

johnnyr,
thanks for response. i did think about that. but that mean that she would lose all her emails, i think? . what if i used the guest account and import my wifes email account, using the details saved on a floppy. i was thinking if she can then open OE, will it bring up the original account or, will it just the new emails?
what do you think?

Thanks,

no mails will be lost at all, everything will remain the same, all you are doing is recreating the e mail address which has nothing to do with folders.

Hi, all,
i got home, had another go at it, downloaded 'easy outlook express repair' and ran it. To my suprise, it worked.
Thank you all for your assistance. don't think i could of accomplished it without you all.

it probably has been but for future reference you could have opened your outlook express and gone to tools/accounts and your wifes one would have been listed and could have been removed and a new one created then.
