OCR Software

I am using an Agfa Snapscan Scanner 1212u. I have obtained the latest drivers to allow me to connect to my new computer that uses Windows XP (Home Edition)operating system. However the OCR Caere software I have cannot be loaded because it was designed for Windows 95, 98 and NT4.

Any suggestions as to how I can get around this problem.

if you can instal but unable to run, Right click on icon, select properties, compatability mode, select windows 98.

if you cant instal, right click on the installation icon on the disc, and run that in combatability mode also.

There are a few freeware OCR apps out there, but you get what you pay for(it works, but its not to clever)

ReadIris 6 is on both the April and May cover disks on PC Advisor magazine.

I would assume as they are recent mags it should work with XP.
