driver wont install because device cannot find enough free resources.i dont know how to find out what is tying up the resources to free some

Probably cannot find a spare IRQ to use.

Check in device manager highlight each item right click select properties - resources tab.

hi i know how to use device manager but am not sure what i am looking for. where are the irq. any chance you explain what to do thanks

.........Have you started from the bare desktop and then Control Panel (Display) and removed the pre-existing video driver?

The next step would be to reboot, pop the Video CD in the drive and let it install from there.

PS ... (It is all "ifs") If you have changed the video card, was the first one integrated?

If so you will need to disable the integrated video in the BIOS. i.e. insert your GeForce card, make the BIOS change and boot up normally.

You will have a crude display like Safe Mode, then you should be able to install with either the CD or pre-downloaded and saved drivers.
