Hi. Yestarday this message appeared on my laptop
"No Bootable CD in ATAPI CD-ROM
NTLDR is missing
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart"

I am using Packard Bell EasyNote laptop with windows XP.

Not sure what happened I was using it not moments before, I loged out so my daughter could use it however when it re-started the message appeared.

I have followed the suggestions on the threads but no luck.

I do not have a Windows XP CD as it was pre-loaded and was not supplied.

Any advise welcomed : )

Check there are no discs in the drives.

Boot the laptop and keep tapping F8 to see if you can get to the screen to get to "last known good configuration".
If F8 doesn't work try F5.

No disk / CD's / USB sticks are in the laptop

if F8 or F5 give no joy try F11 to recover.

do you have a floppy drive?

First format a Floppy disc

Run type
Format A: /u

Then open Notepad and copy and Paste this

[boot loader]
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="First harddisk, first partition" /sos
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="First harddisk, second partition" /sos
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINDOWS="First harddisk, third partition" /sos
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(4)\WINDOWS="First harddisk, fourth partition" /sos
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Second harddisk, first partition" /sos
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Second harddisk, second partition" /sos
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(3)\WINDOWS="Second harddisk, third partition" /sos
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(4)\WINDOWS="Second harddisk, fourth partition" /sos
C:\="Previous Operating System on C:\"

Save as

in Notepad as BOOT.INI

Then in search find

Add these to the floppy disc

you can now try starting your computer with the floppy disc

Once in windows copy the NTLDR from the floppy to the root of C: drive assumming windows is on C:
