A elderly friend has started to recieve the following error message
"N.T. Authority/System---- R.P.C. service terminated unexpectedly"
just before the PC shuts down. I'm afraid my friend is not very computer literate and lives 100 miles from me so the info I have is a bit sparse .I think he's running windows XP and this fault may be associated with either Outlook express or windows explorer I do not have any info on his PC e.g. cpu, memory etc.

OK Thanks a lot my problem now is trying to get my friend to sort it as he is not very PC Literate, I may have to drive to his place to sort it. Once again thanks a lot

Seems to be you first every time...
;-)

SmiffyRebel - might be easier to download the bits from him first. They'll fit on a couple of floppy disks. Start the PC in Safe Mode. Scan with Stinger. Reboot to normal windows and install the patch. Reboot and go online to update the AV he has (or get click here AVG Free Edition)
