Turn everything off , open the case, make sure you didn't accidentally knock a cable or connector loose, check the RAM and expansion cards are seated firmly (earth yourself first).

Did you remove the Mains Wall plug when you changed the Battery????

  doc38 22:44 30 Sep 2007

I awitched it off, but did not remove the plug off

Also if you fitted the battery wrong way round even just short while, the CMOS chip will be no good

I am very overwhelmed by the immediate response. Many Thanks.
I am positive I did not fit it the wrong way

Have a look to see if you can see a jumper on pins right near to the cmos battery. If there is, it will be three pins with jumper over two of them. Remove the Wall plug then move the jumper so it covers the other pin just fo 5 seconds then put the jumper back, plug the mains back in and try the Computer

Thank you Woodchip. I did see the jumperI will have to try it tomorrow and let u know
