I am experiencing problems running Norton Ghost on my m/c (XP professional)

I am trying to load the ghost image to my External Iomega 160Gb Drive (Ghost CD provided as part of the package)

I have looked at the Symantec web site for error 36000 and checked all the information provided.
And all the threads on this forum

I am using a 2.0 usb connection between my m/c(direct i.e. not via a hub)

BELOW IS THE ERROR LOG

Any thoughts?

Also I have failed to register after attempting approximately 6 times

Don't do it from within windows, using the ghost programme, create a boot floppy disk with the usb support and try it with that, making sure that first boot device is the floppy.

I can't even create the ghost image without getting the error.

I am not quite sure whether we are talking at cross purposes. Do you mean after creating the boot disk then try to get a ghost image of my system.

I am also experiencing problems of posting the last part of the error log (so if anyone needs it to help me I will try to post the rest of it

  jimv7 12:27 09 Dec 2004

click here for a tutorial for ghost.

  blackjohn 12:40 09 Dec 2004

there is a tutorial on the ghost disc supplied,
and I have attemted loading the ghost image several times, after re-visting the tutorial each time to ensure that i wasn't doing anything stupid.

The software goes through the whole set up, incuding automatically shutting down the m/c, but to no avail - still get that it has eperienced a problem and I have to reboot to get back to XP

  jimv7 12:49 09 Dec 2004

Open ghost/ghost utilities/create boot disk, tick in the box to allow usb support, have a floppy disk at the ready, follow onscreen instructions.
With the newly created floppy boot disk, reboot the pc with the floppy and follow onscreen instructions.

ok will give it a try, let you know tomorrow afternoon how i have got on. Thanks!

I tried what you suggested, still couldn't get it to work.

It seem to fail to recognise the mouse, which is a logitech cordless mouse.

Also seem not to be able to identify the external hard drive letter.

Though trying to do the ghost image in the normal way it recognises the mouse as a storage device, and correctly identifies the drive letter for the external hard drive

Any more thoughts?
