Is Norton AV OK to use?

I have just bought a new PC which has XP Home already on it, also the Symantec Norton anti-virus and firewall programs.

I have noticed some threads in here indicating that people sometimes have a lot of problems with Norton AV.

Would I be better to use Grisoft AVG instead, or is the Norton stuff OK?

Hi, while it is working Norton is of course ok - but, as you say many have had problems. I think most would agree that AVG is safest bet.

Cheers.

ps - and for Firewall I personally recommend the hassle-free Kerio these days - click here

Me again - also, don't forget Ad-Aware click here. btw, Kerio is a Free download.

Is it OK to use the Kerio stuff with AVG?

Yes absolutely ok.

ps - on the Kerio site you may notice that they also advise AVG.

Does the AVG scan incoming/outgoing e-mails, as does Norton?.

Hi, it is naughty to hi-jack another members Thread - but in answer to your question - Yes AVG scans both ways.

Cheers.

I have used Norton AV with W3.11. W95, W98, W2k & Xp without any problems whatsoever. It is used in conjunction with Zone Alarm.
Also use Ad Aware, Spybot & Spyware blaster; again no prblems at all

Just Google 'Problems with Norton' if you can't make up your mind.
