Norton AV 2003 "safe" removal advise please

  end 16:34 20 Nov 2004

on Tower, have Norton Antivirus installed
win 98se IE 6; note there is NO firewall etc involved;

the subscription will have expired by now and am changing to AGV as on lappy;
before I attempt to uninstall the Norton, are there any hitches I should be aware of, any "hidden delights" instore for me;
have "been there and done that " with Zone Alarms, which , during the removal , took with it vital files that ultimately crashed the tower and resulted in an expensive rebuild;#

guidance please folks::))

and horror stories if there are any ??!!

You should be able to remove it using Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs.

If that doesn't work there is a tool click here

I have noticed that when you uninstall Norton products that have an icon in the system tray. This normally applys to the following products:

Internet Security
System Works (Mainly this product)

If you don't remove the system tray icon before you uninstall, the wizard will say that there are files running.... Other than this I don't know of ANY problems uninstalling Norton Anti-Virus
