No welcome page when switch on

  jhm 11:07 29 Jan 2006

I have an Acer laptop with XP Pro. When switching on instead of listing the account users in the welcome page it goes straight into my desktop. This is the admin account and is password protected. The other users are limited only accounts
When logging off the switch users option works fine
I don't recall checking anything that would cause this. Clues please

There is a simple procedure to bypass the log on stage, perhaps you need to reverse this.

Start - Run, then type in control userpasswords2. If you want to be password protected, there should be a tick in the box for "Users must enter a username and password to use this computer"

Thanks Gongoozler all sorted. Don't know how it changed. As matter of interest is that user password box in Admin Tools

Hi jhm. I'm sure there must be another way of getting there, but I've not found it.

Control UserPasswords2 is the Windows 2k version of "User Accounts"....

There is a "tweak" you can perform (can't remember it off hand) that can add this option to your Control Panel....
