If you have researched the subject and know how many pixels you can get for the money, the next criteria has to be the feel and ease of use. Go to a local shop and then somewhere like Jessops, the staff wil be glad to help and will not pressure you. I bought an Olympus 2040ZOOM two years ago, slightly above your £200, and it's great! But, I find I don't use a lot of facilities, like manual photography where you can adjust everything. When I want to change the flash settings, I have to get the book out!

The moral is try not to spend on things you won't use.
