You can use USB 1 but data transfer would be far slower,it is very easy to put a USB 2 card into the computer open the case tuch the case to remove static from your hand remove screw holding card in place and pull up and replace it with a new USB 2 card put it into the PCI slot and push home and you have USB 2.
