I would stop using the computer the more the drive is accessed the more it gets ill and pooorly and sick and could just drop dead any second.

When you get the new drive, install the os/s etc etc, then connect the old, ill, poorly drive up as a slave and copy the files you want over to the new drive.

Have you tried a check disk?
