No sound for Outlook

  Nicholas 16:05 04 Jul 2003

Recently my Outlook has refused to give me the sound (you've got mail)associated with it. I have checked in Control Panel-Sounds and Audio Devices Properties- New mail notification- and the wav file is still associated with this action. It just stopped working one day. Has anyone got an ideas as to how to restore it?

You don't say which version of Outlook you are using. For Outlook XP, the help file tells you how to turn off sounds - make sure you have not done the following -

"Turn off sounds

On the Tools menu, click Options.

Click the Other tab, and then click Advanced Options.

Clear the Provide feedback with sound check box.

Note When you select or clear the Provide feedback with sound check box, the setting affects all Microsoft Office programs."
