Hi My son has two newish pc's both with realtek hd onboard soundcards, neither of them will output any sound to speakers, in device manager all is showing as OK and enabled and working properly, any suggestions please???
Check your keyboard for sound + or sound - button some keyboards are different and some may not have it on them.I had this problem when i got my first computer my grandaughter had it switched of on the keyboard and I new nothing about it.
Please dont take offence put have you connected speakers to the correct socket and is it fully in! Also do you know speakers are ok. Try updating drivers.also in control panel/sounds/speaker settings/advanced/speakers choosen. In conrol panel have you a realtek or sound manager icon check settings here.
The only other thing that I can think of is maybe do a system restore to a date when they did work.Or back into device manager and roll back the driver in case Microsoft has given it a bad update. It happened with me thats why I install all updates manually.
This happened to me lately. Some applications have their own sound drivers/systems and will install over RealTek and set themselves up as default. A Specialist Stereo effects USB Headphone set did this and unknowingly i was cursing RealTek when in fact it was 'turned off'
ControlPanel/Sounds and Audio devices/Audio/Default device. Check whether there is more than one device installed and the one you want is showing
