No sound from laptop

  iqs 18:55 08 Jan 2009

Following on from my previous thread regarding installing XP on SATA HDD,that has now been addressed.

I have installed XP,all drivers have been installed, but I have no sound.

According to device manager the sound drivers are installed.

Sound and audio devices via control panel states no audio device on the volume tab

DXDIAG ,sound tab,no sound card was found.

I have spent all day on this, any help to finish it off it greatly appreciated .

Hi recap and woodchip,

I had already checked the System Tray icon, and updated the driver.Sound was still missing.

Out of desperation I un-installed the driver and re-installed,didn't work, tried it again, still the same.
Got a little mad at this point, uninstalled ran Registry Mechanic then tried in install yet again, guess what,I now have sound....

I think there a moral or a lesson here somewhere.

Thanks for helping ,it was appreciated.
